Fast-forward to adulthood, and now I’m trying to recreationally swim laps at my gym. And... it’s humbling. How are you supposed to time up your breath with your strokes? I’m out here constantly feeling like I'm about to drown while the lifeguard definitely regrets clocking in. Doing cardio with a limited amount of oxygen is not for the weak.
Moral of the story is, as a grown-up, you need at least one friend with a pool, preferably the kind who doesn’t judge your doggy paddle and looks the other way when you plug your nose to go underwater.
